6 November 1944

About 0730 we came within sight of the harbor at Hollandia, Netherlands Guinea. This Dutch port is the busiest we have seen. There are hundreds of ships in the large harbor. Freighters from everywhere, although the large majority are flying the Stars and Stripes. A number of naval vessels, destroyers, cruisers, DE’s, 4Ds, SCs, and many others I can’t identify with their gaudy striped camouflage. No orders have been received as to who is to disembark there. Rumors again are rampant. My personal opinion is the same as it has been all along; that we will remain aboard ship and return with it to Brisbane. We will see
